The Department of Emergency Health Services offers a unique perspective for the education of future EMS professionals. This is accomplished by providing a broad liberal-arts and sciences education, which enhances the graduates' employment opportunities as pre-hospital providers and managers.

The Department of Emergency Health Servies also prepares graduates for advancement to graduate and professional studies.

ACADEMIC COMMON MARKET
The Academic Common Market (ACM) is a program governed by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). The Maryland Higher Education Commission coordinates the ACM certification process for the State of Maryland which is one of sixteen Southern states that participate in this consortium. ACM affords students an opportunity to enroll in certain out-of-state bachelor's and graduate programs that are not offered at a public in-state college or university, at reduced tuition rates. The following states are partners in the ACM consortium and abide by the policies of the SREB: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida (graduate programs only), Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina (graduate programs with restrictions) Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas (graduate programs only), Virginia, and West Virginia.
