Accommodations Near UMBC& BWI Airport

  • UMBC is conveniently located within a short drive from BWI (Baltimore-Washington International Airport) and the AMTRAK and MARC rail stations.

  • UMBC is not easily accessible by public bus transportation. If you are traveling by air or rail you need to make arrangements for a rental car.

  • Please be advised Maryland laws pertaining to handicapped spaces, fire lanes, yellow curbs, etc. will be enforced.

  • The Department of EHS will not be responsible for any tickets received.

Eating ~~ On and Off Campus

  • Coffee and Tea will be provided in the morning.
  • Due to external controls and in an effort to keep course costs down, UMBC is no longer capable of providing snacks or additional refreshments.  Please feel free to bring your own snacks and refreshments with you to class.
  • You will be given one (1) hour for lunch.

  • Within the Tech Center is a cafeteria which has daily specials, sandwiches made to order, salad bar, soup, and light snacks.

  • There are many fast food options within five (5) miles (10-15 minutes) of campus. We suggest if you are leaving campus for lunch, that you plan on carry-out and bring it back to campus.

Course Location and Other Considerations

  • Location of the 2008 -Paramedic Refresher course:

    Tech Center-South Campus
  • The classroom will be open by 7:00 a.m. for registration on the first day and 7:30 a.m. thereafter.

  • Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and finish by 5:30 p.m. A sample schedule was enclosed in your packet.

  • 100% ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY~~Plan to arrive on time and stay to the conclusion of the daily scheduled time.

  • Topics are selected from the NREMTP Registry guidelines.

  • The course format is lecture only with verbal scenario discussions..  No skills stations are conducted.

  • Clothing and Local Weather~~Please check the weather forecast before traveling. Dress comfortably and in layers (no need for uniforms). The classroom temperatures can vary throughout the day.
