About

Born: Brooklyn New York. Former firefighter and paramedic. Worked as a regional coordinator of emergency health services for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.
C0-Founder of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) a non profit organization that provides education and support to traumatized emergency and military personnel.
Adjunct faculty Emergency Management Institute, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security.
On line faculty, Florida Institute of Technology
Part time faculty, Johns Hopkins University.
Came to UMBC in 1980. Now a clinical professor of EHS.

Research Interests

Emergency services personnel, medical and nursing personnel. Disaster workers, military personnel.

Stress, Crisis Intervention, Traumatic stress, disaster management, disaster mental health services, Psychology of disasters, human resiliency, and suicide prevention
